Pro tip: the self care will help with any wedding related stress you are feeling! Be sure to make time for this during your planning process to avoid and last-minute beauty related fiascos. This guide will help you put together a beauty timeline for your special day to ensure you look and feel your absolute best.
Let’s start from the top:
8-12 months out
1 year to 8 months out is a good time to address any bigger health and beauty needs you may want to tackle before your big day!
- Fitness and Nutrition Plan – Start with your wedding fitness and nutrition plan early to avoid feeling like you have to crash diet or spend long exhausting hours in the gym! You want to feel good and energized not exhausted and undernourished.
- Invisalign/ Dental – Dental work needs time, start early. If this is something you have been thinking about for a while and want to tackle for your wedding the minimum amount of time necessary to achieve visible results is about six months. Inquire and start 12 months out to get the most ideal results!
- Dermatologist – Make an appointment with your dermatologist to get on top of any skin, hair, or nail concerns. You want to make sure there is enough time to make a game plan and have appropriate treatment before your big day.
- Waxing – Get acquainted with waxing sooner rather than later so you can see how your body reacts to it! You want to be consistent with it to ensure long-lasting smoothness.
- Test out any new Hair colors and changes – at the 8 month mark there will be plenty of time to make adjustments to any new colors or cuts you experimented with.
- Skincare Regime – it is time to get strict with your skin care routine to ensure your skin is glowing and at its absolute best for your special day!
- Laser Hair Removal – This can take up to 6 treatments to remove all hair (depending on pigment of hair and skin). If this is something you want for your wedding be sure to start early to ensure you get all treatments in before the big day.
6 months out
- Facials – Facials are something you should start around the 6-month mark to allow time for adjustments and get your skin looking healthy, glowing, and in the best shape possible. You’ll want enough time to find someone you trust and set up a regime to prep for the big day! This is also a great form of self-care/ me-time for you to carve out during the planning process.
3 Months Out
- Teeth Whitening – You are going to be taking lots of pictures on your big day and will want your beautiful smile to pop. Like with most new beauty regimes you will want time to adjust and experiment to achieve the results you want, the 3 month mark is perfect.
- Schedule a Hair & Makeup Trial – this will give you enough time to try different styles with your Hair and Makeup artist and nail down the exact look you want for your wedding!
- Botox – If you want to experiment with botox or injectables make these appointments around the 3 or 4-month mark so there is time for you to test it out and allow it to settle. Botox usually takes a couple of weeks to kick in, you can do touchups closer to the big day if you like how it turned out!
2 Months Out
- Experiment with Tanning – if you plan on getting a spray tan before your big day test it out a couple of months before so you can see how it looks, how long it lasts etc. once you have experimented book your pre-wedding appointment for a couple of days out.
- Beauty accessories – Start researching, purchasing, collecting, and ordering any beauty accessories – ie. hair accessories, special makeup, etc.
2-3 Weeks Out
- Last Hair Appointment – Around the 2-week mark is a great time to go back to the salon and do any treatments, get a trim, touch up your roots or make any subtle color changes needed.
- Exfoliate – Guaranteed you want silky smooth skin for your big day. If you don’t already add an exfoliating regime into your routine a couple times a week to sloughs off dead skin cells without stripping your skin of moisture. Your body will thank you!
- Brows – Get waxed, threaded, shaped, and tinted around the two-week mark to avoid any irritation, bumps, or redness too close to the big day. Keep the maintenance up with tweezers.
- Choose Nail Color – You are probably in need of some self-care a, around 3 weeks before the wedding treat yourself to a mani-pedi to test out and choose your wedding nail colors!
1 Week Out
- Last GENTLE Facial – If facials have been part of your wedding beauty timeline regime then this is the time to get one last facial. Think hydrating and soothing! If you haven’t been doing facials you will want to skip this to avoid any weird reactions.
3-5 Days Out
- Wax – Get your last wax no later than 5 days before so you have time to heal!
- At-home skin treatment – Think light and gentle! Do an at-home face mask (that you have tested before – you don’t want any surprises!) with your girls to moisturize and get a boost of brightness and hydration.
2 Days Out
- Manicure/Pedicure Time – Make an appointment a few weeks out for a couple days before the wedding to avoid any chips or cracks! Make sure you get gel polish. This is a fun activity for you and your girls before the big day so sit back, relax and enjoy it. Your day is almost here!
- Spray Tan – If you are doing a spray tan schedule it for two days before. This timing is perfect and will allow for a little fading and a more natural look.
- Beauty Sleep – Wedding week is long and stressful make sure you are getting enough rest and taking time to relax so you can look AND feel your best on the big day.
- Hydrate – Drink lots of water! You and your skin NEED to be hydrated!
Day Before
- Beauty Sleep & Hydration – Yes this is a repeat! We cannot stress the importance of rest and hydration enough before your wedding day!
