Getting Ready Time

The day is finally here! You have prepped, you have planned, you have organized… now all you need is for everything to fall into place! But wait?! Did you think about all that goes into getting ready on the morning of your wedding? This time of the day should be fun, emotional, and as stress-free as possible… and with a little planning, it can be!

Here are our 10 tips for getting ready time on your wedding day:

1. The getting ready space:

Whether it is a hotel room, a designated room in your house or an Airbnb make a clear and clean space for getting ready time. Tidy up and rearrange the room as needed to provide as much room and natural light as possible. Think about setting up some extra chairs and getting extension cords or making outlets accessible for the hair and makeup artists!

2. Stick to the Timeline:

Make one and stick to it! Seriously, Just do it! Whether you have a planner there to make sure this happens or not you need to stay on track because a setback first thing in the morning will create a snowball effect for the rest of the day.

3. What to Wear:

We have all seen those absolutely adorable pictures on Instagram of bridesmaids in cute matching robes, hair and makeup did, giggling, popping champagne on a bed. Plan ahead and decide if this is something for you and then order you and your girls some robes that match your wedding style! Don’t worry they have a practical purpose too, robes will ensure you avoid messing up your fabulous wedding hair and makeup while trying to change before the day even starts.

4. Food & Drink:

Super important— you don’t want anyone getting hangry or feening for their cup of coffee throughout the morning or by the time ceremony rolls around.

Pro Tip: ingredients for Mimosas are a MUST in the getting ready room!

5. The Dress:

Take your dress out of the bag! Girl, Just like a glass of wine your dress needs some time to breathe and open up so it’s just right when it’s time for you to put it on. This tip goes for your veil and all the bridesmaid’s dresses as well!

6. The Tunes:

Have ‘a good playlist ready!! This will set the mood in the room and get you pumped up, excited, and ready for your big day.

7. The Boys:

Seriously, don’t worry about the boys. They are probably all sitting in their getting ready room together watching TV, playing on their phones, and reminiscing on old times… you reminded them enough times yesterday, the day before, and the day before when they needed to be ready by. So, have faith in your soon-to-be husband — they will be ready on time!

8. The Photos:

Think about anything and everything you want to be photographed when your photographer arrives. This includes both what you want to be photographed, who you want to be photographed, and any special moments you may want to be captured by the photographer. Make a list and put together all your little details, personal items, etc. the night before to ensure nothing gets missed. Think things like:

  • Details: Your dress, wedding bands, engagement ring, accessories, shoes, invitation suite, etc…
  • People: Bridesmaids, parents, close family members, etc…
  • Special moments: your mom putting on your veil, maybe a first look with your dad, exchanging gifts with the bridesmaids, or even reading a special love letter from your Fiance, etc…

Pro Tip: Organize with your florist to show up before or at the same time as your photographer so that they can capture shots that include your gorgeous florals!

9. Pack an Emergency Kit:

We recommend that every bride have a day-of kit that they either bring or designate someone to bring to the venue. This should include things like scissors, tweezers, mints, Listerine, tape, a pair of sandals, Advil any makeup needed for touch-ups.

Pro Tip: Inquire with your planner if they will have a kit on the day so you don’t have to worry about this! We do and it ALWAYS comes in handy!

10. Breathe, Relax, and ENJOY:

Getting ready time should be fun!! If you follow all the other steps the getting ready process should be a time for you to enjoy yourself. You have put so much hard work into planning and putting together this day and it’s finally here.

So, sit back with a mimosa, with your bridesmaids, have some laughs, listen to your favorite jams, reminisce on old stories, and think of how lucky you are that you’re about to marry the man of your dreams!
