Let’s start out by saying how much we LOVE big wedding celebrations. The couples, the gathering of loved ones, the decor, the planning and organizing, the timelines, the vendors, the party, and most of all the LOVE! Lately, we have been falling more and more in love with elopements. Especially adventure elopements. These small weddings are solely about the couple and celebrating their love and relationship.

Today, many couples are shifting towards elopements. They can have a wedding that reflects their relationship and can spend the day focused only on each other. It eliminates a great deal of stress, planning and doesn’t break the bank.

Hawaii is an adventure elopement mecca! From beaches to waterfalls, the jungle, to mountain tops, the ocean cliffs and so much more. The islands have so many amazing adventure elopement locations to offer. This love story is about an Oahu cliffside elopement experience from one of our sweet couples, Audrey and Nico!

Audrey and Nico planned their wedding very quickly, like 3 weeks quickly! This is something we love about elopements. They require fewer vendors and as long as they have availability on your date you can put it together fairly fast and easily. Of course, adventure elopements require more logistics, but that is part of the fun in the adventure right!?

With adventure elopements, we can’t recommend enough that couples allocate most of their budget for amazing photos. This way you can remember your epic wedding day and every little detail about it just how it was. This is exactly what Audrey and Nico did! They can vouch that a good photographer and videographer are 100% worth it.

The elements in Hawaii are rather unpredictable. We urge our couples to come up with a rain plan for their big day, but this isn’t as easy with an adventure elopement. Our advice, embrace it! This Oahu cliffside elopement had a run for its money with the elements but in the end, the rain ended up being a magical part of their story.

It rained all day leading up to the ceremony time. Audrey remembers sitting in the makeup chair looking out the window at the torrential downpour and laughing to herself that she hadn’t come up with a rain plan. So she did the only thing there was to do. She said a prayer that regardless of the rain, our day would still be special.

As they drove to the ceremony spot the rain started to clear up and the sun broke! We all crossed our fingers that it would stay that way.

Nico was in place, and Audrey was set to walk “down the aisle” to him. Of course, at this moment it started to rain again. Not too much, but just enough to make it special. It genuinely felt like a blessed rain. A knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie. By the time Audrey had reached her love on the cliffside, the rain had stopped, and the sun beamed through. They tied the knot knowing their marriage was forever blessed. The sun shone on all the way until sunset when it started to lightly drizzle again just in time to make for some magical sunset photos.

The couple loved everything about how intimate their wedding was. It was purely THEM and in the place, they loved the most. It was such a beautiful celebration to be part of. There’s something about the intentionality of a wedding being small, the love shines through the most when it isn’t in competition with anything else. The couple wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate their bond in any other way.

A true experience they can remember forever. They love each other, and they loved their wedding day.
