One of our proudest achievements here at Aloha Bridal Connections was coordinating our very first wedding. All of our wedding events are special to us in their own unique way, but our first wedding was a milestone for ABCWeddings simply because it was our very first full-on wedding experience.
The date was set for May 3rd of 2013 at the Hale Koa. The wedding ceremony was scheduled at 5pm in the beautiful and spacious Maile Garden. As the day started, we were excited to see that the weather turned out nicely. It was sunny with blue skies. Before the ceremony, we scheduled for photos and a First Look with the bride and her father in the garden. Following the ceremony, the reception would be held indoors.
As we make our way down to the Maile Garden for photos and the First Look, the unexpected happens. It begins to drizzle. The moment that our bride shared with her father was beautiful nonetheless. A little drizzle couldn’t ruin this moment. She walked up to the back of her father and tapped him on the shoulder, and as he turned to face her for the first time as a bride, you could see how proud he was of her. We went along with our schedule and took photos in the garden.
Soon, a drizzle turns into a downpour! We keep checking our watches to look out for the time. Its 4:20pm right now and the ceremony is scheduled to start in 40 minutes! Our lead coordinator is left with no choice but to talk to the bride. The bride needed to decided whether we stick it out and hope that the rain stops in time for the ceremony or start moving the ceremony indoors.
By 4:30pm the bride realized the inevitable and gave us the okay to move the ceremony inside. In 30 minutes, we needed to take everything from the Maile Garden into the already set up reception ballroom! We were forced to re-shift the entire ballroom and push aside tables and chairs to make room for an arch, rows of chairs, and an aisle with flowers from The Floral Boutique.
At 5:10pm the newly transformed ballroom was now ready for the ceremony to begin. Everything turned out beautiful. It was important to us that friends and family not have to worry about moving the ceremony into the reception because that’s what we were there for! We put the finishing touches on the alter with flowers on the floor and then we started to seat the guests. Within five minutes, the ceremony began and everyone had forgotten all the chaos and obstacles that had popped up earlier that day. The ceremony was intimate, emotional, and absolutely incredible.
By the end of the ceremony, we were back on track with our original timeline and the rest of the night was flawless. Our guests were entertained by a lion dance put on by Lung Kong Physical Culture Club. Chair covers were serviced by AMCC, photos were taken by Rachel Robertson Photography, and Isle Media did hair and make-up, videography, and a same day edit!
