There are somethings that you just don’t expect to happen and one of those things is getting locked out of your room on your wedding night. This has happened to us twice, where the couples door lock has failed, locking us out of the room.

At the end of each wedding we take all of the left over inventory from the wedding-such as flowers, gifts, center pieces, etc.-and bring it to wherever it belongs. This is just so that they couple doesn’t have to worry about where things are at the end of the night and can continue enjoying their celebration knowing that all the things they wanted to keep will make it back to them. Most times these items are loaded into families cars and the couples hotel room.

However on two separate occasions the lock to the hotel room door has died locking us out of the room. The first time this happened was after the reception at 12 o’clock at night. We were trying to open the door to place all of the couples belongings inside and the door battery had died.

Being that it was midnight it was a little tricky to get ahold of someone, but we were able to contact the front desk. We explained the situation and were quoted a 30 minute wait time for the technician to get to the room to fix it. When he finally arrived we discovered that it wasn’t just that the battery had died, the battery reader was FRIED; the lock was literally smoking!

The technician was able to fix the door and everything was placed in the room. By the time the bride and groom headed up to their room they had no idea there was even a problem with the door at all. As helpful as it is to have us there to put everything away at the end of the night its times like that which make it even more apparent the types of problems you avoid by having a wedding coordinator.
