Bridal Bouquet ideas!

We are calling it now: the next big thing is fruitful wedding decor! Yes, fruit. Specifically as an addition to floral arrangements. Fruit adds volume and color to bouquets and centerpieces alike and is a very unique approach to wedding decor. The best part of this trend is that Hawaii is home to dozens of tropical fruits, giving you a wide array of colors, shapes, and sizes to choose from.

Our favorite fruit to include in wedding decor is pineapple.

Pineapples have been growing in Hawaii for centuries, and are the perfect tropical touch to your destination wedding. Their sturdy leaves can be surprisingly subtle tucked into a bouquet. To go more boldly, display them clearly in your centerpieces and lining the ceremony aisle.

As for the best floral pairings with pineapple, we recommend carnations and celosias. Carnations come in many shades, but their flowy petals will help soften the look of the pineapple. Celosias have extremely unique and eye-catching blooms that will compliment the bouquet’s other textures.

Other fruits native to Hawaii include lychee, rambutan, and passionfruit. One thing to keep in mind is that fruits produce ethylene gas. This gas speeds up the ripening process of plants, which can result in nearby flowers blooming too soon. We recommend getting fresh fruit and storing them separately from the flowers until the day of the wedding!

If pineapple and tropical fruit aren’t your styles, ProFlowers has compiled plenty more fruity floral arrangements for you to check out. Be sure to research what fruit is season during your wedding, and consider giving your floral decor some extra pizazz!
