1. Be on the same page as your fiancé: This wedding is for the both of you so make sure when you start planning you stay on the same page. If your envisioning an extravagant ballroom wedding and he’s thinking something simple on the beach with a few friends your going to run into some problems… Communicate! This will be key throughout the entire planning process especially to avoid arguments. Make a point to sit down and establish what each of you want then make some decisions together that you can base the rest of your planning around.

2. Set a budget:  Yes, this is always the toughest part but extremely necessary in the planning process. Get together with everyone who will be contributing to the wedding and just get the tough money conversation out of the way. Your budget is the groundwork for every other wedding related decision you make.

3. Decide who is on your wedding planning team: Does the bride get to make all the decisions? The bride and the groom? Your parents? Extended family? Wedding Party? Friends? Believe me every is going to want a say. It is extremely important to start the planning process off with a set team of people otherwise things could get really out of hand. Set your boundaries from the get go to avoid clashes in decision making or arguments between the wedding planning team.
