Ideas to Start creating your Wedding Checklist
Congrats on your engagement! Now.. where to start? Wedding coordinators everywhere recommend using a wedding checklist starting at least 1 year out from your wedding date. If your organized planning your special day it will make the entire planning process much more enjoyable and easier to manage.
Here is an idea of what your 1 year checklist may look like. Remember your planning process is like your wedding, unique, so no two will be exactly the same. We think even just this rough guide will help you get a handle on things to start creating your very own wedding checklist…
9-12 Months
- Your engaged!!! Celebrate!
- Set a date
- Choose wedding style, theme and colors
- Set your budget
- Choose your bridal party
- Start your Bookings!
- Go dress shopping
- Have an engagement photoshoot
6-8 Months
- Buy your dress and bridesmaid dresses!
- Do some vendor bookings: caterer, cake/dessert, DJ/Emcee, floral
- Register for gifts
- Hire a Day-Of Coordinator
4-5 Months
- Send Invitations
- Book hair and make-up artist and rental & decor items
- Finalize guest list
2-3 Months
- Start your wedding day timeline!
- Finalize rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and post wedding activities
- Gather RSVP’s
- Have a Bridal Shower
- Purchase wedding accessories, favors and reception table supplies
- Have a Hair/Make-up consultation
- Set your final gown fitting appointment
- Plan a Spa Day!
1 Month
- Finalize wedding day timeline!
- Call any guests who did not RSVP
- Determine Day-Of duties for any helpers
- Determine seating chart
- Determine a shot list for photographers and playlist for DJ/Emcee
- Get your marriage license!
2 Weeks
- Confirm all details with vendors and arrival times (contact location to make sure vendors can have access when they need)
- Finalize seating chart
- Have your Bachelor/Bachelorette parties!
Day Before
- Have your wedding rehearsal (1-2 days before)
- Set aside payments and tips for vendors!
- BREATHE!
