With tropical paradise often comes unpredictable rain, especially at the Koolau Vista. We encounter rainy wedding days every once in a while. Some locations are a bit more reliable than others in terms of predicting rain but let’s face it, mother nature is in full control and anything can happen on your wedding day. The best thing you can do is always have a back up plan.

Luckily at the Koolau Ballrooms there is always a backup plan as it rains here frequently. It is by far one of our favorite venues on the island as the backdrop is breathtaking mountains that feel within your reach. We recently had a wedding here and the ceremony location was at Koolau Vista. This is an outside location on the golf course about a 3 minute shuttle ride away from the main Ballrooms.

This particular couple was very adamant that even if it was raining on their wedding day they wanted to do everything possible to keep the wedding outside. This is actually pretty unusual as most couples are very against any idea of getting wet on their wedding day. We were so excited to hear the determination in their voices.

The wedding day comes and unfortunately, there is a 100% chance of rain right at the ceremony time. All day long everyone’s eyes were peeled on weather apps and the clouds surrounding the area. When it came time to make the rain call it was pouring outside and you weren’t able to see more than 10 feet in front of you.

After about 30 minutes of deliberation, both the bride and groom decided they would keep their ceremony outdoors. They decided it was more important for them to be outside in the rain than dry and inside a building. Even though they knew not all the guests would attend in the rain they didn’t mind because all they needed was each other.

At the time of the ceremony, the skies started to let up and it was only a light misting. The guests didn’t mind at all and both the bride and groom were so excited to finally be getting married. As soon as the pastor announced them husband and wife it began to rain pretty heavily again and everyone was able to get to the backup tent to stay dry.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect and everyone was smiling ear to ear on how perfectly the weather held up for the couple. This wedding day made me realize that when you focus on what the wedding day is really about everything just falls into place. There’s no better feeling in the world than to witness the true love and the magic of mother nature. Congratulations to the special couple on getting married, it was a wonderful day that our team will never forget!
