Rustic and Tropical with a Kiss of Glam Wedding at Lanikuhonua

The pandemic prevented a lot of celebrations from happening. But, what did not stop, was their growth together,  their love, and the overall anticipation for their big day. This couple waited three years to say I do at their dream wedding destination, but it was worth it! Lara and Kevin have been together since 2017. They got engaged, had an original wedding date set for May 2020, postponed, welcomed a baby boy in September 2021, and finally had the highly anticipated wedding day of their dreams on February 1, 2022. It was one of the best days of their lives!

#GorslineAndSinker

While her father was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Lara lived in Hawaii and she fell in love with the aloha spirit Hawaii is known for. Choosing Oahu as their wedding destination was an easy decision. She has roots here and she wanted to celebrate the start of her new journey at one of the places she once called home. Everything took place at Lanikuhonua and their rustic tropical glam wedding was heavenly. Lara and Kevin envisioned a rustic and tropical glam with hues of slate blue, dark blue, with wood and gold accents.

The wooden farm tables were dressed with a lush tropical garland filled with greenery, loose bright tropical blooms, and pillar candles. It was a stunning tropical head table! Round guest tables were garnished with gold tea light candles, monstera leaf chargers, and a stunning tropical arrangement. Our favorite part of this reception set up, though? The sailcloth tent! With the twinkle lights and the table decor, it was a romantic rustic tropical glam vibe.

Fresh Malasadas

We love a dessert bar! So, what made Lara and Kevin’s dessert bar even better? Fresh malasadas! These delicious desserts were made by the Catering Connection team on site! Malasadas are popular in Hawaii. It is a fried doughnut topped with sugar and is best eaten fresh! The smell alone was heavenly and it was surely loved by all of their guests.

The Vibe

Right after Lara and Kevin’s ceremony was finished, DJ Troy Michael’s choice in music was outstanding! Cocktail hour and dinner music consisted of early 2000’s and Hawaii local hits and open dancing music included family favorites and top alternative hits. When we say DJ Troy kept the vibes going all day, we truly mean it.

There was not one moment where Lara and Kevin were not singing or jamming out to a song. They were dancing in their sunset photos, dancing in their bridal party shots, Lara was singing with her bridesmaids, and once open dancing started, Lara and Kevin did not leave the dancefloor! They waited three years for this day and Lara and Kevin wanted to embrace every moment of their wedding day.
