In Hawaii, the weather is always beautiful. It is typically sunny year-round. However, it is still a tropical island and there has to be a little rain every once in a while to keep the island green. So as wedding coordinators, we always suggest having a rain plan just in case the weather changes. Our focus is on making sure that the bride and groom are happy with whatever plan they want to go forward with. What we loved about Annie and Justin’s wedding was rather than deterring away from the rainstorm, they embraced it! Coincidentally, Annie walked down the aisle to “Rainbow” by Kacey Musgraves while it rained and the end of her rainbow was Justin, waiting for her at the altar.

The couple’s vision for their wedding day was for it to be lively and fun! And, that positive energy was present all day long. From the wedding party to their guests, Annie and Justin’s modern tropical wedding vibe was at an all time high! Their guests put on a raincoat, grabbed an umbrella and headed up to the ceremony location at the water tower. Paliku is a popular venue because of its panoramic views. Even though Chinaman’s Hat was not as visible as it usually is that day, the ceremony was even more intimate and romantic because of the cloudy skies and raindrops. Annie and Justin’s smiles were bright and excited as they stood in front of their closest family and friends.

The positive energy continued on to the bowl lawn for the couple’s reception. Modern styled earthy tone flowers mixed in with traditional tropical blooms and golden tea light candles dressed the guest tables. Annie was born on Big Island and the couple wanted to incorporate the local culture in their wedding and what better way to do so than through guest favors and dessert! Each guest favor featured a small gold pineapple frame, an aloha favor bag, and a lauhala fan. While the bride and groom’s wedding cake that was decorated with two golden pineapples and tropical blooms was a highlight of the dessert table, our favorite part was the pineapple donuts! A Cake Life nailed this look! It was so cute!
