Home is Where the Heart Is – Intimate Oahu Wedding

Hawaii was more than a destination wedding to Kim and John, moreover it is where they both grew up, where they first met, and where they would celebrate their love alongside family and close friends.

This couple had one vision in mind — low key and intimate.

The Ceremony

Kim and John took a little trip down memory lane at the place they met and said their vows at St. Alban’s Chapel, at ‘Iolani School. They were surrounded by their close family members and friends, who traveled from near and far. Tall luscious green, neo-tropical florals stood beside them, as they participated in a unity candle ceremony and said I do.

The Reception

Similar to the theme for the ceremony the reception space showcased traditional blooms along with pops of neo-tropical florals. The ceremony was more of a traditional setting whereas the reception at Lotus Hotel Honolulu had more of a modern edge. Kim and John added personal touches to the event space with individual name cards and a two-framed, Drouhin Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wine bottle display near the bar to commemorate their engagement at Domaine Drouhin winery. All about the romantic, intimate details!  Their sweetheart table was adorned with the luscious floral display from their ceremony. Guest tables featured the ceremony aisle bouquets and romantic tea light candles. The evening overflowed with laughter, conversations, and great food.  The happy couple went around to personally thank and talk with everyone at each table.  It was intimate and low-key, just how they always imagined their celebration to be.

A Family Affair

One of our favorite parts of the wedding day was the overflow of love for Kim and John. It was a family and friend affair from their ceremony to reception. A cousin was their emcee, a grandparent organized their Crane Sebazuru display, and a grandfather gave a banzai toast. As the couple looked out at their friends and family they couldn’t help but feel like living in that moment forever. There is truly nothing like celebrating love surrounded by the ones you love.
