Real Wedding: Tasha + Keane

The sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky and there is a soft breeze blowing through the palms as you walk down the aisle… Yes, this sounds like the perfect day for a ceremony in Hawaii however, in paradise the weather can actually be very unpredictable. Luckily, when you have a team of adaptable vendors and a pre-determined wedding plan B, bad weather doesn’t have to ruin your special day.

Discussing an alternate plan for your wedding can be a very sensitive subject but we ALWAYS suggest it, just in case. This real wedding story is the perfect example of why! Luckily for this happy couple, what could have been a weather disaster actually resulted in some plan B magic.

The Vision

Born and raised on Kauai, Tasha and Keane dreamed of exchanging vows surrounded by the breathtaking nature of the island and their loved ones. Their vision embodied romance with a touch of edge (ie: the bride’s bad a$$ cheetah print boots!!!). They had candles, dusty pink and white florals, fresh greenery, rose-gold details, and a classy looking group of guests in their formal attire — even though by the end of the evening everyone was covered in mud.

Ceremony

In Hawaii, rain on your wedding day is considered a blessing or sign of good luck. On the day of Tasha and Keane’s wedding, the gods decided to show up in full force and give their wedding a thorough Hawaiian blessing. While the blessing was much appreciated, the continuous rain meant we had to turn to wed plan B.

Vendors and the family worked together to move chairs and decor into the courtyard of the estate. Everyone was determined to make up for the rain by giving Tasha and Keane the fairytale ceremony they were dreaming of. And they did, it was stunning! Our team even surprised the bride and groom with a petal shower from the second floor of the courtyard during their first kiss. It was the perfect little touch of magic this plan B ceremony needed.

Reception

The reception took place at a private estate in Kilauea. Although there were some breaks in the rain, we still had to deal with the aftermath… the mud!!!! The wedding vendors all worked together to get things set up on the muddy grounds of the venue. Everyone had to use 4-wheel drive vehicles to unload their gear for setting up under the tent, the groom’s dad even brought in his Bobcat to help. Seeing all the family members and vendors working together to get the reception set up and celebration underway was amazing. The dedication and teamwork were a true testament to the beautiful people we have on these islands and in this industry.

In the end, the weather actually gave this wedding a bit of character and the edge we didn’t even know it needed. At one point Tasha even said, “It wouldn’t be my wedding without a little mud.”

It was amazing to see how everyone came together with a common goal, the couple’s happiness! They were not only happy but so grateful for the way it turned out. The day ended up running very smoothly thanks to the everyone’s adaptability.

You never know, sometimes plan B turns out even better than plan A!
