Kelly + Mikey’s Tropical Escape to an Intimate Oceanfront Wedding

We love an intimate wedding! What better way to celebrate with your closest friends and family members than to invite them to stay on site at an oceanfront venue? For Kelly + Mikey, their top priority was to create an unforgettable relaxing wedding experience and the Kawela Kai Nani Vacation Rentals was the perfect venue for them.

The highlight of their wedding weekend? Hands down, their wedding day!

Weather? An ideal sunny, clear blue sky, with oceanfront breezes blowing through.

Bride? Finished with hair and makeup early enough to add her personal touches to their table scape and floral decor.

Groom? Caught some waves in the morning before saying “I do” to the love of his life.

Wedding vibe? Shoes optional, Aloha shirt recommended, Aloha vibes required.

The First Look

We highly recommend our couples to have a first look. The first look is more than just a time to get your pre-wedding jitters out of the way. It’s that intimate time between two partners, where time stands still as you embrace each other’s presence before saying “I do.”  With the sand between their toes and the waves in the backdrop, Kelly + Mikey did their first look with private vows right on the beach. As Kelly walked down the wooden stairs to tap Mikey on the shoulder, her beachy wave curls and lace-detailed dress flowed behind her. This was the moment they were waiting for all morning.

Aesthetic + Florals

Florals were important to Kelly and she knew who better to create her wedding florals, than her and her mom? Kelly’s mom made her bouquet and they both created a boho tropical-inspired table scape with vibrant anthuriums, orchids, ginger, roses, and greenery bud vase arrangements. These arrangements were the perfect pop of color on the dark wooden farm tables and cream-colored cheesecloth runners. To add that romantic touch, Kelly and Mikey scattered a mixture of tapered candlesticks and votive candles right down the center of the farm tables.

Creating the Guest Experience

Hawaii was a place they called home years ago and they wanted to ensure their guests loved every bit of it just as much as they do. From fresh-cut coconuts, to fresh fruit-infused mocktails and cocktails, and a farm-to-table caterer, Kelly and Mikey wanted their guests to experience as many things organically grown in Hawaii as possible. Every part of their wedding day was intentional to their wedding aesthetic. And, six months later, they are still on cloud nine reliving their wedding weekend through their photos.
