Getting Married in Hawaii?!

Here is our fool-proof guide on how to obtain your marriage license:

Congratulations, you have decided to get married in the beautiful tropical paradise of Hawaii!!!! There is SO much to research, plan and organize before the big day. However, one of the most important is sorting out your marriage license. Don’t worry, we are here to help!

Hawaii’s marriage license regulations fall under the authority of Hawaii’s Department of Health. We have broken it down into 3 easy steps for you:

  1. Find a licensed minister or marriage performer who will be the officiant for your wedding. You will have to provide their name in the application process, all registered performers names should be in the system.
  2. To complete the marriage license application steps & payment visit the Hawaii government website HERE!!
  • You only need to fill out one application per couple
  • Payment is $65
  • Pre fill and bring it to your licensing agent or the Department of Health Building with your locator ID #
  • Bring formal identification (license/passport), divorce decree or death certificate of any past spouses when you meet with your licensing agent.
  1. The most IMPORTANT and final step is island specific, find your island below for specific instructions!

Oahu

Go to the Department of Health building to meet with a marriage license agent together, NO EARLIER THAN 30 DAYS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING. You can make an appointment HERE. They will finalize your license and provide you with the official hard copy. The process is quick and takes only about 1 hour!

Don’t forget: Locator ID #, formal identification (license/passport) and additional paperwork (listed above)

Address: 1250 Punchbowl St. Room 101. Hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, last applicants around 3:30 pm. For specific directions check out our blog post HERE!

**Insider tip: visit Tuesday-Thursday to avoid waiting in line with all the last-minute couples

Kauai, Maui and Big Island
