9 Tips to help your wedding day run smoothly

You have spent so much time planning your big day and it has finally arrived! Now it’s time to trust everything is in place so that all goes off without a hitch. There are many ways to ensure the day goes well but here are 9 tips to help your wedding day run smoothly and seamlessly:

1. Timeline

We cannot stress the importance of a timeline enough. Not only will it help you stay organized but it will also ensure everything is timely and the entire wedding day runs smoothly. A timeline will also help vendors, wedding party members and guests know exactly what is going on when, where they need to be and what they need to do. Even if you want the day to be laid-back a timeline is essential to making sure you fit everything in you want for your big day!

2. Do a rehearsal

Practice makes perfect… Well, it makes better! There is a chance many members of your wedding party (or even you) have never been part of a wedding. The rehearsal is a great chance to ask questions and run through the ceremony to work out all the kinks before the real deal to help the wedding day run smoothly. We highly recommend doing a rehearsal, check out why in THIS blog post!

3. Allow for plenty of getting ready time

This is where your entire day starts and you don’t want it to start off behind! Chat with your hair and makeup artist and coordinator to ensure there is ample time for everyone to get ready before you have to leave for the ceremony.

4. Delegate

Delegate out any and ALL remaining tasks/wedding day errands to someone reliable – It’s your wedding day, you have done everything up until this point and have only one thing to think of on the day — saying I do! There are plenty of friends, family, bridal party, or your coordinator who are happy to handle last-minute things!

5. Pack an Emergency Kit

This is a wedding day must! Build yourself a little emergency kit that goes to the ceremony and reception with you in case anything comes up. You may want to include but are not limited to: tide pens, safety pins, bobby pins, makeup touch-ups, q-tips, mints, tissues, water bottle, sewing kit, fashion tap, sunscreen, bug spray, hair ties, tweezers, scissors, lint roller  , etc….

6. Trust your Vendors

Your vendors are professionals, that’s why you hired them! They have worked on tons of events and know exactly how things go. They are familiar with following timelines, setting up, breaking down, and keeping the flow of the day just right. Sit back, relax and trust them!

7. Create a photo-shot list

Photo shot lists are absolutely key to helping formal family photos run smoothly and timely. Everyone wants those formal photos with their family and friends. But the process of getting them isn’t exactly fun because post ceremony everyone is excited to get on with celebrating! A photo shot list is a perfect aid at making this portion of the day go by quickly and painlessly. See our blog on creating the ideal photo shot lists HERE!

8. Set aside enough time for travel

This is an important one! The last thing you want is to be stuck in traffic trying to make it to the ceremony. Not allowing enough travel time can throw off your entire wedding day schedule. Allow enough travel time fluff in the timeline to avoid this.

9. Hire a coordinator

Enough said! It’s our job — your coordinator will handle everything on the day so you don’t have to stress. They will act as the point of contact and a “voice” on your behalf for the day. You won’t have to bat an eye at all the little questions that get asked. They will manage guests, vendors, and timelines as well as oversee and take care of set up and break down. They ensure everything sticks to the timeline to keep the wedding day running smoothly and seamlessly! What sounds better than just getting to sit back and enjoy your wedding day because you can trust everything is covered by your coordinator?!
