Congratulations, you have decided to get married in Moab, Utah. The land of red rocks, stunning natural arches, sweeping canyons, and so much adventure! There is SO much to research, plan and organize before your special day. One of the most important is sorting out your marriage license, to make it OFFICIAL for you Moab wedding.
Moab’s marriage license regulations fall under the authority of Utah Department of Health – office of vital records and statistics. Luckily the process is fairly easy and straight forward with no waiting period:
- Download and Print out the marriage license application HERE! (Only one needed per couple)
- DO NOT sign the application until you visit the Grand County Clerk/Auditor’s Office.
- Find a licensed minister, marriage performer, or ordained loved one to be the officiant for your wedding. You will need someone who can legally solemize the marriage. You will have to provide their name in the application process.
- Go to the local County Clerk/Auditor’s Office located on 125 E Center St. in Moab on a weekday between 8am – 4:30 pm
- BOTH applicants must appear in person and provide:
- Full names, addresses and dates and places of birth
- Social security numbers, unless an applicant doesn’t have a social security number.
- Names and birth places of parents, including mother’s maiden name.
- Formal Identification (license/passport), divorce decree or death certificate of any past spouses when you meet with your licensing agent.
- Payment of $40 for the license fee (includes one certified copy of your license!)

5. Get Married! – As soon as you get your license you can get married! The license is only valid for 32 days, so make sure to have your wedding within that window so that it doesn’t expire! You will also need 2 witnesses over 18 to sign the marriage certificate on the day! The person who solemnizes the marriage must file the certificate and the marriage license with the County Clerk/Auditor’s office that issued the license.
After your ceremony, you must return the license signed by everyone! And then… you are OFFICIALLY married!!! Congratulations you are now ready to get married in Moab!
