The “First Look” that the bride and groom have before a wedding is always so special. It’s the first time that they see each other as bride and groom and the first time he gets to see her in the long-anticipated wedding dress. Most times it’s full of smiles, tears, and jaw-dropping, but this one time it almost included an unexpected guest.

At a recent wedding held at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki, our bride and groom had their First Look in the Great Hall. It’s a gorgeous open grand staircase with a waterfall in the background. The problem is that it is in an open public area. With four entrances to a middle level, we had our work cut out for us to make sure we blocked all entrances to preserve their special moment. Just seconds before our bride reached up to tap her groom on the shoulder a young gentleman carrying a skateboard snuck by us and was about to walk right into our bride and groom’s special moment! With glaring eyes and a stern voice, our wedding coordinators were able to stop the young man in his tracks and save the bride and groom’s First Look from the rudest interruption.

The thing with the First Look, and a lot of things on your wedding day, is that it only happens once. There is only one time that you can see the bride in her wedding dress for the first time, there’s only one first kiss as husband and wife, and there’s only one way we know to make sure all these things go smoothly. Having a wedding planner is the best way to make sure all these things go smoothly so that you can enjoy your day.
