Kathryn and Ian, reside in the heart of Oahu – Aiea area. Their love story is a heartwarming one. It all began when Ian was invited as a guest reader to Kathryn’s third-grade class. Little did they know that this encounter was the start of something magical. Ian purposely sent over a sequel to the book he read to plant a seed in Kathryn’s mind. A year later, they reconnected, igniting a love that would last a lifetime.
Despite their busy schedules, Kathryn, a dedicated teacher, and Ian, a government employee, managed to plan their dream wedding. With big families who are very important to them they curated fun week of wedding activities. Their families played a significant role in making the week leading up to the wedding truly special for everyone attending. From pool days to celebrating with their favorite Boston’s pizza, the couple enjoyed quality time with their loved ones leading up to the big day.

Moanalua Gardens holds a special place in Kathryn’s heart. Her family lives nearby, her father grew up in Moanalua, and her sister also got married there. With the support of not just five, but twenty aunties and uncles, the couple was surrounded by love and assistance. The abundance of family and friends’ involvement showcased the deep love and support they have. With the help of their family, their dream wedding vision was achieved and allowed the natural beauty of the surroundings to shine through.
Kathryn, The DIY Queen
Kathryn’s creative spirit shone through in her DIY projects. From baking her own wedding cake to crafting a giant wooden welcome sign and seating, she showcased her talent and dedication. She even designed fabulous bride sunglasses and personalized tote bags for her bridesmaids. Her bouquet and her father’s handkerchief were also lovingly created by her own hands.
First Look Moments

Next, was a gift for both the Bride and the Groom, Kathryn’s Big Island cousins performed a special Hula for them. The last time they performed this dance was at Kathryn’s grandparents’ 50th anniversary, making it even more special. The final surprise was for Ian again when Kathryn herself performed a very special sola Hula for him!
