The Fresh Shave® concept began with two parents with a pair of shave ice-loving keiki, Hawaiian for child(ren), who envisioned a healthier alternative to Hawaii’s most famous treat. From the start, our priority was to create homemade syrups using real ingredients. Goodbye high fructose corn syrup and artificial coloring and hello fresh produce. And so, the experimenting began with our executive taste testers by our sides—our Keiki. 

Naturally, handcrafted syrups deserved hand-cranked ice. In fact, shave ice made its debut in Hawaii when Japanese plantation workers immigrated to the islands and used their heirloom swords to recreate their favorite dessert. With below average sword skills we turned to the next best thing—a manual ice shaver. Thus, this fresh take on a classic Hawaiian dessert manifested into “The Fresh Shave.”  

In addition to operating a storefront in Old Koloa Town, we proudly offer catering services for private events. We add a uniquely Hawaiian twist to your celebrations and spoil your guests with our handcrafted treats.
