Sometimes the weather isn’t just clear skies and sunshine on your wedding day. Here’s a story of a couple we had that found the silver lining to all the clouds anyway.

The wedding was held at a North Shore estate, along the winding road, just along the water’s edge. Throughout the day, there was a little drizzle here and there, but the clouds seemed to be making their way out towards the afternoon.

Because there had been a bit of rain the day before, our lead coordinator took it into her hands to redraw a layout for the wedding day, to assure all guests would be covered. She cleverly utilized the layout of the lanai areas of the property, and we decorated as planned. It’s always better to be prepared, and in this case, we were so glad we were!

Guests gathered, the Bride & Groom got ready, and everyone crossed their fingers hoping for the best. Seeing that both the ceremony and cocktail hour were still out in the open, all we could do was that. Thirty minutes before the ceremony, mother nature blessed the day with some rain… quite a lot actually! We tried to hold off on the ceremony but decided that with the looming weather, the ceremony would have to happen with a little drizzle.

Our staff ended up escorting the whole bridal party down the aisle with umbrellas, and even stood behind them and hid during the ceremony!! Even during the post-ceremony photos, the photographer used her skills to avoid capturing our team, and we successfully avoided as much of the rain as possible.

Our next challenge was the reception! The dinner buffet, cocktail hour, and the seating for the guests were all on separately covered lanais on the property. Each had a winding path between them, the only problem was that the rain was relentless that evening. Our team, along with the catering service staff, sacrificed our dry clothes to escort guests across the lanai areas all night long. Every inch of our bodies was soaked, but our commitment to our couple and their guests on their big day was of the utmost importance.

More important than anything was the bride and groom’s mood. We did everything we could to accommodate them in the situation at hand, and overall they were so happy. Their love for one another shone through, and they even enjoyed a laugh or two about the circumstance of the rain! We always joke with our clients that the couples that are most in love, have a blessing of rain on their wedding day. Well my goodness, they were in LOVE alright.

All in all, they couldn’t have been happier, and by the end of the night, the rain let up long enough for them to enjoy their first and last dance out underneath the stars. Their positive outlook on their day was so inspiring, and had our team tearing by the end of the night. If they could weather a storm like that together, we know their love will carry them far.
